Best trainer on the panel: I know it’s a cliche but all of the lads are top trainers in fairness.

Honours: A Minor B and U/21 A Shield in 2011. Be nice to add an Intermediate Championship to this one.

Someone who has had an influence on your career: I would have to say my brothers Mark and Darren. I grew up watching them play Senior football for Kilcock.

Three words to describe yourself as a player: Hard working, passionate and dedicated.

Favourite Sportsperson: Roy Keane because his passion and desire to win were unrivalled and he took no prisoners.

Best player played with: Dara McVeety from Cavan. He has the whole package.

Toughest opponent: Anton O’Sullivan of Offaly destroyed me. One day in a school’s match!

Favourite club player: Eamon Fitzpatrick has been playing with Kilcock as long as I can remember and he seems to be getting better every year.

Favourite Inter County player: Mattie Donnelly of Tyrone. He’s an extremely intelligent and athletic player, who can fill several positions on the field.

Player you would love to have at your club: Lee Keegan from Mayo. So I could relax and sit on the bench!!

Most memorable sporting moment: Winning a Minor B with Kilcock about ten years ago.

Favourite Gaa ground played in: Canton, Boston.

Best advice someone has given you: My father told me when I was younger to start throwing my weight around on the field a bit more. I think it’s worked fairly ok for me.

Young player in your club we should look out for: Shane Farrell. He’s an amazing young talent, who can kick off both feet and doesn’t seem to have many weak points to be honest.

Most skilful player on your team: Shane O’Rourke. I’ve seen him do some crazy things with a football.

What does it mean to Captain your side in Saturday’s County Final? To be chosen out of this squad of players as Captain is very flattering considering some of the unbelievable players and leaders we have. I just try to do my best to justify the decision every time I train and play.

O’Sullivan Scores In Wexford Rout

Kilcock man Patrick O’Sullivan found the back of the net in his side Wexford FC’s 5-1 victory away to Cabinteely on Friday night.

O’Sullivan, who replaced Jack Larkin on the 84th minute, put the icing on the cake two minutes later for the men from the South East with a composed finish as they picked up a bady needed win, in what must surely go down as one of the most surprising results of the season.

The former Longford Town under-19 player and current Maynooth University student fired into the top corner of the net to seal the victory for the visitors after Charlie Smith teed it up for him with a pass from just outside the penalty area.

The result now sees Wexford move off the bottom of the table, while Cabinteely could drop out of the play off position should UCD defeat Shamrock Rovers second string on Saturday.

Kilduff nominated for June player of the month

Kilcock’s Shelbourne FC striker Ciarán Kilduff has been nominated for the SWAI and SSE Airtricity League player of the month award following some fine performances and crucial goals for the Tolka Park side in June.

Kilduff, who is the sole representative from the first division, is there on merit following goals in important games against Drogheda United and Limerick FC, as The Reds won all three games during the month, extending their winning run to seven in a row in the process.

The former Dundalk striker has also been a pivotal target man, bringing more than just his finishing prowess to Ian Morris’ league leading side. His work rate up top is immense, winning and holding up the ball on almost every attack. A perfect fit for Shelbourne as they continue their push for promotion.

The six-man shortlist for June’s SWAI Player of the Month is as follows: Danny Mandroiu (Bohemians), Sean Gannon (Dundalk) ,John Mountney (Dundalk), Ciaran Kelly (St Patrick’s Athletic), Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe (Derry City) and Ciaran Kilduff (Shelbourne).

Sean Davis captures first treble at odds of 7,955-1 at Wolverhampton

Leading apprentice Sean Davis enjoyed a memorable first career treble at mammoth odds of 7,955-1 at Wolverhampton, featuring two big-priced winners for boss Richard Fahey and a winning spare for David Simcock.

The Fahey-trained Primeiro Boy relished the step up to seven furlongs for the first time to win at 33-1 in the opening classified stakes, while stablemate Micronize registered his maiden victory at the 15th attempt, staying on best to score by a neck in the 6f handicap at 25-1.

Davis replaced the ill Jim Crowley on the Simcock-trained Moment Of Hope in the 1m4f novice median auction, who scored for the second time in three starts by a neck at 8-1

Davis, previously based with Ger Lyons in Ireland, said on Sky Sports Racing: “It’s been a great day and I couldn’t have asked for better. It means a lot to ride my first treble and I have to thank everyone who has supported me.

“They went a really good pace which suited Primeiro Boy, who saw the trip out well, while Micronize had a desperate draw but the drop in trip did the trick.

“Richard [Fahey] always felt he was capable of winning a couple of races once things went right for him.

“I was thankful to get the ride on Moment Of Hope – she’s progressive, tried hard and did it well.”

Davis, who was suspended from 17-19 July for offences relating to failing to ride to his draw and careless riding aboard Micronize, leads the Stobart apprentice jockeys’ championship by six winners and heads to Hamilton for six mounts on Tuesday.
