Name: Shaun Maguire

Age: 27

Height: 5ft 10′

Honours: A Minor B and U/21 A Shield in 2011. Be nice to add an Intermediate Championship to this one.

Someone who has had an influence on your career: I would have to say my brothers Mark and Darren. I grew up watching them play Senior football for Kilcock.

Three words to describe yourself as a player: Hard working, passionate and dedicated.

Favourite Sportsperson: Roy Keane because his passion and desire to win were unrivalled and he took no prisoners.

Best player played with: Dara McVeety from Cavan. He has the whole package.

Toughest opponent: Anton O’Sullivan of Offaly destroyed me. One day in a school’s match!

Favourite club player: Eamon Fitzpatrick has been playing with Kilcock as long as I can remember and he seems to be getting better every year.

Favourite Inter County player: Mattie Donnelly of Tyrone. He’s an extremely intelligent and athletic player, who can fill several positions on the field.

Player you would love to have at your club: Lee Keegan from Mayo. So I could relax and sit on the bench!!

Most memorable sporting moment: Winning a Minor B with Kilcock about ten years ago.

Favourite Gaa ground played in: Canton, Boston.

Best advice someone has given you: My father told me when I was younger to start throwing my weight around on the field a bit more. I think it’s worked fairly ok for me.

Young player in your club we should look out for: Shane Farrell. He’s an amazing young talent, who can kick off both feet and doesn’t seem to have many weak points to be honest.

Most skilful player on your team: Shane O’Rourke. I’ve seen him do some crazy things with a football.

What does it mean to Captain your side in Saturday’s County Final? To be chosen out of this squad of players as Captain is very flattering considering some of the unbelievable players and leaders we have. I just try to do my best to justify the decision every time I train and play.
