Clane United 1 Kilcock Celtic 4
Division 1,2&3 Shield Semi Final
A Shane Fitzgerald hat-trick secured a place in the final of the Divisional Shield for Brendan Rooney’s Kilcock Celtic with a 4-1 win over hosts Clane United on Sunday 22nd October.
In what was your typical game of two halves, Kilcock found themselves a goal down after Clane scored with their only real chance of the opening 45 minutes, a lovely sweet strike that found the back of Aaron Stone’s net. Rooney’s charges for their part were guilty of missing some very scorable opportunities early on and went in at the break 1-0 down.
Whatever clever tactical changes were made by Rooney and his management team during the interval seemed to work wonders however as they began to take control of the game, going on to score four unanswered goals, including ‘another’ hatrick for the magnificent Fitzgerald.
After the game a delighted Rooney said; “The full squad played their part in what was a fantastic win. We can now look forward to the final. It will be the first final our senior team will be taking part in for seven years. Fair play to the lads, they are playing a lovely style of football at the moment and we are getting our just rewards.”
