Kilcock jockey Robbie Downey tasted his first success since moving to India onboard the Imtiaz A. Sait trained ‘Gloriosus’ (7/2) at the Mahalaxmi Race Course earlier today.
Downey eased the eventual winner to the front with about 400 metres to go and went away, winning by 6 & 1/2 lengths in the end, with Lucky Luciano back in second place.
Robbie described the weather as been “very sweaty” on his Instagram page, with temperatures hitting 30 odd degrees. The race was the second of an eight race card and was the ‘2018 Master Shifu Plate’
Downey finished 2nd in the penultimate race onboard Caprisca for the same trainer as he continues his steady start on only his second week in action on the Indian circuit.
